Red Flags That Should Stop the Sale
- A salesperson pushes you to sign today to keep a price or incentive.
- Someone asks for your utility account number before you see a written proposal.
- The contract has no escalator figure, or the rep calls it "small."
- You get a signing link by text or email you did not request.
- Work starts before permits arrive.
- The rep still promises the 30 percent federal tax credit on a system you own. It ended after December 31, 2025.
Why This Matters in Connecticut
In July 2024, Connecticut's Attorney General sued Sunrun and two sales dealers. The complaint alleges e-signatures without consent, work before permits and an escalator that pushed one lease to $135,693 over 25 years. In 2025 the bankruptcy of solar lender Sunnova left many homeowners asking who would service their systems.
The Premier Homeowner Promise
- A written proposal with your exact equipment and an Aurora production estimate.
- Cash, loan and PPA or lease prices shown side by side, with any escalator in writing.
- Contracts reviewed with you in person or on a call you schedule.
- A full copy of your contract, with the three-day cancellation notice.
- No installation before permits and utility approval.
- One local, veteran-owned company in West Hartford that answers for the work.
